Green Hillclimb Team Wins at Nationals 2008
Local hillclimbers, Shane Green of Georgetown and D.J. Watson of Tilton
win at the 2008 National Hillclimb Championship. The setting was at Waterford, Ohio on a hill of 400 feet in height and having three jumps.
D.J., who is 1st place in points for Illinois and Indiana, had his first run at the hill losing control on the second jump. The next day however, D.J. proved why he is 1st in both states. Shane, his team mate gave him a little advice and
D.J. smoked the hill on his KX 65 Kawasaki with a time of 13.0 seconds!
This gave nine year old D.J. his second 1st National title in four years.
Robert Watson, who also rides for the Green Team, is the proud father of D.J.
Shane rides in three classes; 250, 450 and 600 cc. He is also 1st place in points for Illinois and Indiana on all three bikes. Riding the 250 Yamaha, on the first day up the hill, he took 8.80 seconds placing him in 1st place. The second day was tough and Shane was pushed back to 3rd place.
He did not place in the 450 class.
In the 600 class, Shane rides a KX 500, the bike that everyone likes to watch him ride. On the first day he sailed up the hill with an impressive 8.5 seconds taking 2nd place out of 57 other riders in this class. The second day Shane would not improve his time but still claimed 2nd place.
